History of Zhuravli Ukrainian Dancers of Houston
The Zhuravli dance group was formed in the year 2000, in Houston, Texas, under the direction of Martha Noukas.
In Ukrainian, the name Zhuravli means cranes. Zhuravli, or cranes are representative of the group which was
originally comprised of mostly young dancers who had migrated to Houston together from all different parts of Ukraine.

Today the Zhuravli Ukrainain Dancers of Houston is an adult group, made up of dedicated dancers, ranging from 17 to 29 years of age.
Each of these individuals has been dancing for at least five years, with most having started their dance careers at a very young age.
The group continues to share Ukrainian culture and folk dance to the Houston community by performing at various internaltional festivals all over the city.
